What happens when you put your trust In Jesus?

If you asked Jesus into your life as Saviour and Lord, many things have happened! We know this because God gave us these promises in the Bible.

Study

What do the following verses say about the promises we have because of trusting in Jesus?

Hebrews 13:5

Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said, “I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you.”

Colossians 1:13-14

Who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love, in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins.

Galatians 3:26

For you are all children of God, through faith in Christ Jesus.

2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.

John 17:3

This is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ.

The Bible tells us...

  1. Jesus has come into your life by the Holy Spirit and he will never leave you. (Heb. 13:5)
  2. All your sins have been forgiven. (Col. 1:13-14)
  3. You have become a child of God and He is your heavenly father. (Gal. 3:26)
  4. God has given you new power to live a transformed life. (2 Cor. 5:17)
  5. You have started a friendship with God that will last forever. (John 17:3)

How can you be sure that all this has really happened?

If God says it in the Bible, He means it. We are guaranteed these promises and cannot lose them.

What do the following verses say about concerning our new promises in Christ?

Romans 8:38-39

For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor >depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God’s love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

2 Corinthians 1:21-22

Now he who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God, who also sealed us, and gave us the down payment of the Spirit in our hearts.

1 John 5:13

These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

The Bible tells us...

  1. Jesus is in your life, and that he will never leave you. (Rom. 8:38-39)
  2. You can know that the Spirit of Christ lives in you and that you have eternal life from the moment you invited Jesus into your life (2 Cor. 1:21-22)
  3. That because you believe in Jesus you are guaranteed eternal life (1 John 5:13)

Discussion

  1. What if anything is stopping you from believing that you will go to Heaven?
  2. What is difference between facts and feelings?
  3. Are there times that you feel like you are not saved? Why? What is the fact concerning your salvation?
  4. What can you do during those times of doubt?

Final Thoughts

  1. Rely on God: Although feelings are valid and important, they do not determine what is true. A follower of Jesus lives by trusting in the reliability of God himself and what he has said.
  2. Trust facts not feelings: We can rely on God and trust what he has promised in the Bible, and not depend on the way we feel.
