My New Promises

What are our new promises in Christ?

Study

In each verse below, what promise does God give us in Christ?

John 6:37

All those whom the Father gives me will come to me. He who comes to me I will in no way throw out.

1 John 5:13

These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

Philippians 1:6

Being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

John 14:26

But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you.

1 Peter 4:10

As each has received a gift, employ it in serving one another, as good managers of the grace of God in its various forms.

We are promised...

  1. Unconditional love and will never be rejected by God or loved less for any reason. (John 6:37)
  2. Eternal life and cannot lose our salvation. (1 John 5:13)
  3. Sanctification and will increasingly grow to be like Christ as we yield our life to His perfect will. (Phil. 1:6)
  4. Holy Spirit which helps you know the truth, communicate with God, understand His Word, recognize and resist sin, and empower you to better serve the Lord. (John 14:26
  5. Spiritual gift for serving other people to the glory of God. (1 Pet. 4:10)

Final Thoughts

Take God at His Word. If He promises it, then it is done. Do not rely on feelings but facts. For example, you may not feel saved at times, but the fact is clear in 1 John 5:13.

2 Corinthians 1:20

For however many are the promises of God, in him is the “Yes.” Therefore also through him is the “Amen”, to the glory of God through us.
